Let’s create a safer web together!

Empowering Adolescents and Teenagers to Navigate the Digital World Safely

Digital environments offer important opportunities for children and young people, but they also expose them to a range of online risks. Families’ abilities to support children online vary widely, and migrant and diverse families may face additional barriers to accessing information, protection, and support.

SaferWeb responds to these challenges by focusing on children’s everyday digital experiences and the family and social contexts in which online risks occur. The project highlights the need for inclusive, evidence-based approaches to online safety that reflect the realities of different families and communities.

SaferWeb aims to improve understanding of online risks affecting children and young people and to support more inclusive approaches to online safety across Europe.

The project focuses on:

  • Supporting inclusive policy and practice through research and collaborationese aims, SaferWeb works to bridge gaps between research, practice, and policy, supporting more equitable and effective responses to online risks affecting children and families.
  • Generating evidence on children’s and families’ experiences of online risks
  • Examining social, cultural, and institutional factors shaping protection and support

SaferWeb is relevant to a wide range of audiences involved in children’s digital lives. This includes children and young people, families and caregivers, educators and practitioners, as well as policymakers and organisations working in the areas of child protection, education, and digital safety. The project places particular emphasis on reaching and reflecting the experiences of migrant and diverse families.
